Lima, Peru – The Ministry of the Environment (Minam) has recently released the National Monitoring and Evaluation Plan for Climate Change Adaptation Measures. This regulatory instrument will guide and facilitate the planning and management of the monitoring and evaluation process for implementing climate change adaptation measures at all three levels of government, within their respective jurisdictions.
“This plan will primarily allow us to understand, at a national level, the progress made in adaptation measures through process and outcome indicators, established in the National Adaptation Plan, the National Environmental Policy, and the National Climate Change Strategy to 2050,” said Berioska Quispe, the general director of climate change at Minam.
The aforementioned process is based on planning to implement the measures, monitoring and evaluating them, and assessing the results at the end of their execution.
The roadmap for its full implementation consists of four phases: analysis (identifying the requirements), design (determining the technical specifications), development (developing programming codes), and implementation. Currently, Minam is driving the design and development stage.
