Speaking at a commemorative event, Martinez highlighted the strong bond between the two countries, citing various agreements and initiatives that have deepened their cooperation. These include a free trade agreement, technical cooperation MOUs, and mutual recognition agreements, which have fostered economic growth and strategic partnerships.

Taiwan's Ambassador to Guatemala, Vivia Chang, expressed gratitude for Guatemala's unwavering support, particularly in international organizations like the WHO and the UN. She also highlighted Taiwan's efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, including increased investment and educational exchanges.

The event featured cultural performances, with students from the Republic of China Elementary School in Guatemala singing traditional songs and dancers from the Guatemala Institute of Tourism showcasing their cultural heritage.
