Apple Surges Past Wall Street Estimates in Q4 Despite Semiconductor Headwinds

Apple has delivered a robust financial performance for its fiscal fourth quarter, defying global supply chain pressures and component cost inflation to post record-breaking revenue.

According to the company's financial report released Tuesday, quarterly revenue reached $114.48 billion, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The figure successfully surpassed consensus estimates of $113.39 billion projected by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Hardware sales remained a primary catalyst for growth. iPhone revenue climbed 17.5% year-over-year to $57.58 billion, bolstered by the September 18 rollout of the iPhone 18 Pro. Meanwhile, Mac sales experienced a significant 23.7% jump to $10.79 billion. However, iPad and wearable accessory segments faced mild contractions, dropping 10.4% and 7.9% respectively. Service revenues—encompassing platforms like Apple Music, Apple TV, and cloud storage—grew 9.8%, marking its slowest growth pace since 2022.

The quarter concluded with an earnings per share (EPS) of $2.10, outperforming the anticipated $1.99, aided in part by tariff-related tax refunds.

In his debut earnings call as Chief Executive Officer, John Ternus celebrated the milestone fiscal year. Addressing the ongoing industry-wide memory shortage, Ternus noted that Apple successfully mitigated higher memory expenses by adjusting product pricing, leveraging existing component inventories, and driving cost efficiencies in non-memory parts.

Addressing recent reports concerning screen flaws in the newly launched iPhone Duo, Ternus downplayed the issue, stating that only an "extremely small percentage" of units have been returned for replacement. Regarding ongoing supply constraints for the model, he acknowledged that while manufacturing output is scaling up smoothly, management cannot yet pinpoint when supply will fully catch up with demand.

Following the earnings report, Apple stock traded relatively flat near $338 in after-hours sessions following a 1.83% decline during regular market hours.
