Won the 'Prime Minister's Award' in the local government category for excellence in attracting domestic-returning companies at the "2026 Domestic Reshoring Meritorious Awards" hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on November 5.

Recognized for its contributions to establishing a support system for local settlement—ranging from discovering companies wishing to return home to providing investment consultation and financial support.

The city plans to continue its efforts to support the stable settlement and growth of returning companies while attracting advanced/new industries and creating jobs.

Busan City (Mayor Jeon Jae-soo) announced that it received the 'Prime Minister's Award' in the category of outstanding local governments for attracting domestic-returning companies at the awards ceremony of the "2026 Domestic Reshoring Meritorious Awards and Forum" held yesterday (the 5th) at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, these awards were established to encourage companies and local governments that have contributed to revitalizing the domestic return of overseas production facilities and boosting domestic investment and job creation.

Domestic-returning companies refer to those that liquidate, transfer, downsize, or meet restructuring exemption requirements for overseas business sites, and newly establish or expand domestic business sites to produce products identical or similar to those produced at their overseas business sites.

The city was recognized for its dedication to discovering companies hoping to return home and establishing a robust support system for their local settlement, spanning from investment consultation to financial support.

The city has continuously consulted with companies considering a return, listened to on-site difficulties, and guided them through government and city support systems.

In addition, by operating and managing the investment promotion fund, the city secured financial resources for investment support projects, such as domestic-returning investment subsidies, and streamlined the subsidy execution system so that companies can receive investment funds precisely when needed.

Recently returned to Busan, Hyosung Electric Co., Ltd., VC Tech Co., Ltd., and Sungwoo Hitech Co., Ltd. are pursuing domestic return investments totaling 188 billion won based on the city's support, establishing local production bases.

The city expects these corporate investments to lead to local job creation and the concurrent growth of related industries, ultimately contributing to the revitalization of the regional economy.

Moving forward, the city plans to continue its efforts to support the stable settlement and growth of returning companies while attracting advanced and new industries to generate jobs.

Kim Ki-hwan, head of the city's Economic Policy Office, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement born from Busan's excellent investment environment combined with the bold decisions of the companies. We will continue our support so that even more domestic-returning companies can successfully settle down and grow stably in Busan."
