Province invites Japanese corporate representatives to introduce local tourism resources and workation facilities

Chungcheongnam-do has stepped up efforts to promote its overseas market and expand participation by introducing local tourism resources and workation infrastructure to Japanese corporate representatives.

From the 29th of last month to the 2nd of this month, the province, along with the Chungnam Culture and Tourism Foundation and the Korea Tourism Organization, hosted the "Workation Chungnam Global Fam Tour," inviting around 30 Japanese corporate officials to explore areas across Gongju, Buyeo, and Boryeong for four days.

This event was organized in line with the growing trend of workations in Japan, allowing participants to directly experience unique local tourism resources and workation facilities.

Participants toured regional workation facilities and tourism attractions, including the Gongju Hanok Village, Chungnam Workation Coworking Office, Buyeo Wood Workshop and Baekje Cultural Complex, and the Boryeong Workation Center.

They engaged in various experiential programs such as making diffusers, riding zip-tracks, and visiting wood workshops. They also reviewed the operation methods and regional programs of Chungnam Workations through a specialized seminar.

In particular, the event served as a milestone in showcasing the appeal of Workation Chungnam to Japanese corporate representatives as they directly experienced stay-type programs linking workations with diverse provincial tourism resources, such as traditional hanok, historical and cultural sites, and marine leisure.

Through this event, the province plans to broaden its touchpoints with Japanese corporate officials, encourage their participation in next year's Workation Chungnam program, and expand the foundation for overseas corporate promotion and engagement.

A provincial official stated, "Through this event, we were able to directly introduce our local workation resources and programs to Japanese corporate representatives. We will continue to strengthen promotional efforts targeting overseas companies and tourism stakeholders to vitalize Chungnam Workations and broaden our domestic and international participation base."

Meanwhile, a workation is a system that revitalizes regional tourism and extended stays by combining work with leisure. The province started the initiative with four cities and counties in 2023 and expanded it to nine last year.

Last year, 2,649 people from across the country participated in the Workation Chungnam program.

This year, 10 cities and counties are participating, aiming for 2,800 participants, with 1,732 people having used the program as of September.
