“Enjoy the Chungnam Seafood Grand Festival Together”

Province to host seafood consumption promotion event around Chunjangdae, Seocheon from the 9th to 11th

The Chungnam Provincial Government announced on the 2nd that it will hold the “Chungnam Seafood Grand Festival” around the Chunjangdae area in Seocheon-gun from the 9th to the 11th.

Hosted by the province and organized by the Chungnam Federation of Marine and Fishery Professionals, this seafood consumption promotion event is prepared under the theme: “Excellent Seafood, Joyful Memories, and Chungnam You Want to Meet Again.”

With an estimated 5,000 tourists, fishermen, and fishery-related organizations and institutions expected to visit during the festival period, the province plans to create a vibrant new stage where merchants and visitors can mingle together beneath the red sunset of Chunjangdae.

Rather than being a simple one-off food festival, the event has been prepared as an occasion to deliver “hope” for a fresh start to fishermen struggling with high inflation and sluggish consumption, while offering visitors the “fresh taste” and “safety” of the pristine West Sea.

First, on the festival stage, opening celebratory performances (on the 9th by Sung-ri and Kim Da-na), the “WAVE Hope Song Concert” (on the 10th by Jang Han-byul, Kim Kyung-min, and Mari), and a closing ceremony and performance (on the 11th by Ji-won-i and Ahn Sung-jun) will take place successively.

On-site, visitors can enjoy free fish-catching experiences for eels, shrimp, and flounders (6 types), ESG craft activities (8 types), and a children’s playground equipped with Viking rides, trains, and bungee jumping.

Additionally, seafood sales booths, Chungnam and Seocheon agricultural and specialty product promotion/sales centers, food trucks, and fishery equipment exhibitions will be operated on a regular basis, alongside daily events held 1 to 3 times a day such as seafood auctions, weight-guessing games, and “Find the Golden Fish.”

Moreover, linked programs have been prepared, including a discussion session with future strategy experts, a marine resource release event, and the Chungnam Seafood Cooking Contest.

Following the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s local event venue safety management manual, the province has established thorough safety measures—focusing on 6 major areas including fire, electricity, and facilities—while securing event insurance, stationing safety personnel, and deploying backup power generators in case of power outages.

In addition, the festival is operated as a “barrier-free” event accessible to everyone, featuring dedicated restrooms for people with disabilities, nursing rooms, and parasol rest areas.

“Through this festival, we will promote Chungnam’s outstanding seafood to people nationwide,” said Kim Yong, Head of the Provincial Fisheries Village Industry Division. “We will do our utmost to ensure that both residents and tourists take home joyful memories.”
